Went to Tampa Airport the other day to fly back to Denver. Thousands of black and yellow attired Iowa fans there. All heading home after a butt whippin by LSU the day before in the Outback bowl in Tampa. Saw very few LSU fans, as I am sure they pretty much felt that minor bowl was not worth traveling to from Louisiana. I observed that it is apparently a federal regulation that all people that leave Iowa must wear yellow and black clothing, ugly hats, and lanyards? They all did seem pretty damn excited though about being off the hog farm and in the big city. At least they all were animated and talking very loudly and annoyingly about several topics: healthcare (apparently they are all experts in insurance including regulations, sales, cost containment, and any various associated government issues), their one major trip outside of Iowa 15 years ago which was to the enchanted state of Montana the vacation paradise of the free world (including drive times, vehicles, sleeping accommodations, bowel movements and each and every meal consumed on the adventure), the weather, and last but not least the prospect of flying on a real air plane!!! I guess their trip off the farm coupled with having to wear shoes for unaccustomed periods of time was a bit unsettling to them. Anyway, I am glad to put that two hours out of my life.
